Sidegrade is a one-person site about software, subscriptions and digital services – with a bias toward the Japanese tools, stores and accounts that are awkward to use from the United States.
I am Jordan Wells, and I write everything here myself. The short version of why: a lot of Japanese software, stores and subscription tiers are documented only in Japanese, and the English coverage that exists is usually a summary of a summary. I read the original pages so you do not have to.
How I check things
Prices, region limits and account rules are checked against the official page, and each article carries the date of that check. When a number moves I go back and update the article, and the bottom of the page says what changed. When I have not used something myself, I say so instead of implying I have.
What this site is not
No sponsored posts. If that ever changes, paid placement will be labelled as such on the page itself. I do not run a store, and I do not handle orders, shipping or customs – this site covers software, accounts and digital content only.

If something here is out of date or plain wrong, email me from the contact page and I will fix it. Every article has a correction link at the bottom.
